Packaging and Shipping 11x14 Prints
Nov 10, 2002
What is the all-time fashion to package and transport 11x14" prints for post or courier?
I've seen them rolled upward in those tube containers, but I am not sure if this is the best mode. Are there any other ways that they should be protected when aircraft?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Packaging and Shipping 11x14 Prints
I usualy continue a few of the boxes my lab sends my prints to me in. That way when I demand to send out prints, I reuse the box. I also give all prints 16x20 and larger to my walk in customers in these aforementioned boxes.
Hope it helps,
Frank

Frank,
What kind of boxes are you referring to? The round cylinder ones or the rectangular ones?

For unmounted 11x14 I use the complimentary USPS Priority Mail cardboard cartons. At that place is a size that you lot can use for 11x14 (I utilise a scrap slice of mat board and a handbag to protect the print in the box). More often than not, these days, I utilize an internet lab that ships directly to the client anyway. Most people ordering custom enlargements also want mounting done IME.

Re: Packaging and Shipping 11x14 Prints
All of the labs I accept worked with send back prints in a adequately flat box, just a bit bigger than the largest ordered image.
If my lodge has a 16x20 the box volition exist near 17x21 and will be almost ii inches alpine.
Hope this helps.

I roll my images up and place in tubes of about 4 inches in bore. My images actually arrive in these tubes from the lab as 20x30 inch and I trim the individual images out of the 20x30 and resend.
Equally long as y'all don't utilise a smaller diameter tube and lustre paper the prints survive perfectly. If you employ gloss newspaper you need to place a big canvas of acid gratis tissue on the print and then roll... this volition protect the gloss surface.

PS Brand a ring of photopaper to get effectually the print when rolled and then record. This volition keep the print rolled smaller than the tube (and so that information technology can be removed without damage) and keeps the sticky tape abroad from the impress.
tubes are way stronger than flat boxes, in fact they are near bomb proof from annihilation that the courier or mail service can throw at them.
